What's the point of getting a footballer's signature? Is it to prove that you met them? They probably did not enjoy the encounter, so all you're doing is memorializing their irritation.

Almost knocked me out. ALMOST.

Was buying some C & A cricket stuff when they were unknown and out of some bloke's semi detached.

Bought a bat and some pads and was umming and aahing so to clinch the deal he said he'd chuck in a ball signed by Imran Khan that he said was very rare.

Went upstairs came back down with a white ball with a scribble on it and told me he'd got it signed at Islamabad Airport.

Didn't much like it when i accused him of going upstairs and signing it himself.

Used it anyway.

Only one I ever got was Gordon McQueens. Spotted him with his family at Alton Towers mid eighties and proceeded to follow him around regaling him with Utd songs, echoing off the walls in the log flume, sitting on the roller coaster etc... Eventually (after a long long time), he told us to £#%&! off.

Lee Sharpe on the back of a Boddington's beer mat. He turned up in my dad's local (The Grove) and was doing his Elvis celebrations on top of a table

Ryan Giggs on some Audi promo stuff. He was sat in the back of an Audi handing them out like some £#%&!ing Emperor. I was only having a look in the window and he shoved it in my hand.
