Switching Off

Cool Totti

No, not a STUNNING SWOOP to add some much needed pace to our attack, but the retirement of a legend. I believe 'Il Bimbo d'Oro' means '2nd rate Giggs' in Italian.

Quote:
“In terms of Totti, I already knew that there was an agreement with the club that this would be his final year as a player, then he’d start as a director,” Monchi said.

“Francesco is Roma, I want to be as close to him as possible. I’d love to learn even 1% of the huge amount that he knows.”

With the odd exception, I'd imagine most people who state an opinion about him haven't watched a Serie A match for 10+ years

They booed him for having the audacity to play well against them.

Mertens this season. Where did that come from? Wasn't even playing as the striker until Milik got injured iirc

[SIZE="4"][SIZE="6"]Big Ron left one sandwich short of a TV dinner

[SIZE="3"]Unaware that he was still on the air in Germany, Big Ron called Totti "a little @#%&!" and ordered some sarnies while commentating on last night's game.

German TV viewers got an extra helping of Ron Atkinson commentary last night when a technical glitch allowed them to hear the big man call Roma striker Francesco Totti a "little @#%&!" and order a snack.

Fans in Germany watching the Group B game between the Italian side and Arsenal on Premiere cable channel were able to follow the game with the ITV commentary team.

However, at half-time, instead of switching to adverts like the UK transmission, the broadcast in Germany stuck with the commentators who did not know they were still on air.

Viewers heard the Guardian columnist and former Manchester United and Aston Villa manager say: "Are there any sandwiches? I'm starving."

Unimpressed with Totti's performance in a first half during which he had repeatedly dived, looking for free-kicks and a penalty, Big Ron reportedly said: "He's a little @#%&!, that Totti. I can't see what all the fuss is about."

His more considered co-commentating colleague Clive Tyldesley countered: "We haven't really seen the best of him."

In between mouthfuls, Atkinson later praised Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and a resurgent Barcelona. But that's not nearly as interesting, is it?
