Been an excellent start to the season and we've started playing some superb football in the last few games.

Next 5 games...

Stoke (a)
Sunderland (h)
Bolton (h)
Vermin (a)
Blackburn (h)

Apart from the fourth one - which comes after a midweek jaunt to Moscow reckon we should scoop some points - settle for 13 out of that. However Stoke will probably beat us in their cup final.

This season could have a bit of the 06/07 season about it.

There's lots of goals in this side atm.

Theres a pace and agression about our play which hasn't been there since 06/07.

The intent to 'go at' teams now is brilliant.

That's gotta be the best way to nullify Stoke, have a right go at them, don't let them turn it into a dogfight.

Without sounding like a slapped arse... I sometimes wonder what we could achieve if we started with 2 attacking wingers, as opposed to the lop sided variatons we've seen a majority of the time so far. The left of our team is seriously over loaded in comparison, and Valencia not starting while we are in this form, Rooney especially, leaves Berbatov trying to drop & create as there is a decided lack of support & pace on one side of the pitch.

Nani seemed in great form early doors as well, promptly not been seen for a bit. Especially with Park playing...

I know what you mean but you can't argue with the results so far this season. We've won 6 out of 7, scored plenty of goals. Things are looking good and normally we take a couple of months to get into our stride.

Was about to say similar. As Sir Royston of Keane used to say, it will be important that we match them for aggression and then we can have a pop at them.

Despite the Berbie Bashers' opinions I would start him and Rooney up front and get the ball forward early and pray that Valencia or Nani starts ahead of Park with Giggles down the other flank both getting past the front.

Then if and when we get infront we dont do what we seem to have developed and annoying habit of in recent seasons and stop playing.

Absolutely, the way Scholes has been playing as well, huge boost & created a little problem in as much as Fletcher is the first name on the teamsheet, but we need 2 strikers, and there in causes the imbalance. Scholes has to play in a 3, or a variation, Spurs away had Fletcher on the wing, but more of an old fashioned inside-right, & again & again, it was down to Evra to do the attacking down the left. Teams surely can't so stupid as to miss this & Giggs can't be expected to play left wing week in, week out...

Paging Mr Hargreaves...

anderson left, scholes & fletcher in the middle, valencia right. similar to the spurs line up tbh, plenty of flexibility and easily converts to a natural 3 if valencia is up the field.

but i expect to see nani and carrick. probably rightly, fergie will want them to get games.

Are you suggesting Anderson left because you think that's what Ferie will play or because you'd pick him there?

I wouldn't want Anderson anywhere other than as part of a midfield 2 tbh, he seems to have really picked up the pace & is doing well. Momentum is key for some players, Scholes, Giggs, Fletcher all seem to be capable of stepping in when needed, Anderson & Carrick especially get on a run & have consecutive runs of form that should be exploited. Given the run of fixtures coming up, we should look to make the most of Anderson's resurgance (mini... lets hope it maintains for the whole season) & leave him in the middle, Scholes' passing is exceptional, maybe the Spurs formation but with Nani on the left rather than Giggs who must be a bit knackered after so much football on the wing early this season.... Nani & Evra looked a decent pairing down that side as well.

anderson played wider than giggs against spurs and was very effective in supporting evra and stopping lennon.

i don't agree with the whole 'playing him wide is a waste' thing. if he's in decent form he can play wide left or central, as he did for porto.

besides, with valencia playing and the fact we're likely to spend large parts of the match camped around the stoke box, it would be left side of a three rather than a traditional left wing position.

in answer to your question, i think we'll see scholes play, with anderson rested.
