Not just a football legend with a boundless love for the game, but also a true gentleman. A sad loss indeed.

The best quote I ever read was:

"Under Bobby Robson England were good. The problem was that nobody noticed".

Never a truer word said.

Always loved his reaction to Ronaldo's famous goal against Compostela.

Sky had cameras inside St James' Park this morning and were speaking to fans who had come from all round the country to pay their respect to Bobby Robson.

Bet you can't guess where the first mourners they spoke to had traveled from

£#%&!ing ghouls.

Thumbs up

Heard Mark Wright on the radio last night, who said last year he was having a bad time at Chester with so many injuries and suspensions that he was forced to play the youngsters in league games.

Then one morning Bobby Robson rang him. When he got to the phone and said 'how are you feeling Bobby?', he replied 'Not too good, but enough about me. Let's see how I can help you'.

Sounded like a genuine bloke in a profession lacking them.

I know he was a geordie and had his last spell in management with them, but Whenever i think of sir bob as a football man its his spells with ipswich and england....

Anyway

Great man. football will be much poorer without him around.

R.I.P.

don't think dyer was born when bobby was at ipswich, but they did have that link.

mourhinio's tribute is quite moving. very honest. from the heart. same with gazza. unlike the pr speak being peddled by the likes of shearer and beckham. @#%&!s. better to say nothing than such empty platitudes.
