That Boy Ronaldo!

Default United set to bid for a MIDFIELDER!

according to ESPN.

Quote:
Manchester United are set to make an £8 million bid for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama before the January transfer window closes, ESPN understands.

Although Celtic are likely to reject the offer because of the player’s importance to them - he scored in the home Champions League win over Barcelona - it would send a statement of United’s intent to move to the front of the pack chasing his signature.

The Kenyan’s performances have attracted interest from a number of clubs in the last few months and, with several preparing to open talks with the Scottish Premier League champions and the player, it is believed United feel they must act now.

Sir Alex Ferguson took a look at Wanyama during Celtic's 4-0 win at home to Dundee United last week.

Nevertheless, it appears the player may only be a fall-back midfield option for United in the event that they fail to land their main target, PSV Eindhoven's Kevin Strootman.

The move for the highly-rated Dutch player is understood to be threatened, however, by United's unhappiness with his agent - and that could mean they are prepared to look elsewhere.
He'd be cup-tied for Europe so unless Arsenal are to bid for him, can't see it happening during January.

So he's a fallback for a player we haven't even bid for

Cost celtic £900,000 last year. I know Martin Fergie is from Glasgow but you'd think he might look further afield.

What player worth his salt would allow a move to break down because of an agent?

Of all the poor trajectories that the game is on, removing agents from the scene would be the easiest to rectify. All FIFA would have to do is mandate that players may only be represented by their respective country's PFA and that transfer related payments to any other party are now illegal. Bring sanity back to the process, increase revenues for the union and keep the money in the game.

They've signed a contract, if they break it they will get sued.

TBF he ate them alive that night. Also did well at Camp Nou where Barca needed deflected cross in the 90th minute to win.
