It's funny because Marky G reckoned that there's no way Savic would be sold before the world cup because his club would be crazy to allow it...

...But Fred is a done deal... I'm assuming because he thinks Fred's club are £#%&!ing stupid?

Can't see much business being done early at this juncture.

The only players who attract interest by a good World Cup are ones not already in demand for one reason or another. Leaving it until after the World Cup when you’re already got big offers from big clubs is just taking a risk with no extra reward available.

Clubs already know who the talent is. They don’t need a World Cup to tell them. World cups these days are more for potentially increasing a player’s ‘brand’ and marketing opportunities. And even then, the most marketable players in the world today didn’t become so through their World Cup performances.

player has confirmed tonight that City have been interested since January.

There's interest from both clubs but so far only United have made a solid bid for him.

He can't lose really, waiting til after the World Cup.

Either he has a great one and his price to City goes up

Or he has a shite one and his price to United goes up

Ooh, not THE Luiz Adriano and bloody Alex Teixeira?!

You and AKers appear to have missed the point though, once again.

I’m not necessarily questioning their ability - who could ever doubt the technical prowess of Alex Teixeira?! Just the mentality of being happy to £#%&! about in the Ukraine for 5 years.

Costa is actually a great example. All the talent in the world, and he’s getting loaned out by Bayern when he should be at his peak.

Is that official?

Know they’ve got an option on him for a daft price so was always likely tbf. Rumours they were going to sign him then sell him on though.

46 million euros. I suppose considering what some of our £#%&!ing deadbeats cost it's cheap as chips but doesn't seem particularly so.

Probably because most of them are a tier or two or ten below the elite Brazilian "wonderkids" who get noticed very early, but can still get paid a top wage and not be hampered by work permit rules by going to Ukraine. Similar with Portuguese clubs who recruit from South America without restriction, but without the salary enticement beyond the big three.

That's not to degrade Fred right off the bat, because Fernandinho and Willian have shown being in Ukraine was not a slant on their ability.

Shakthar were a pretty decent side for a few years in European competitions when they were only a few players short of essentially being Brazil B.

Not overly surprised players stay at Shakhtar tbh. Champions League football pretty much guaranteed every season, decent wages, balls deep in some eastern European hotties. Seems like a pretty decent stepping stone for some of these Brazilians. They won't always attract the big clubs initially, some of them go over there at a pretty young age.
