By the time Rooney's contract is up the scary thing is he might want to leave to join a team capable of winning things rather than just pure money, ala RVP.

So we're not capable of winning things now?

His contract isn't up "now" is it?

We're certainly not capable of winning a league or European title with the current manager and who knows where Moyes will have this team in 18 months (if he's still here)

Lets be honest without Rooney this season things would be look pretty £#%&!ing bleak.

oh hey up, it's the old "without xyz player the team is shite" angle again.

rooney is as of yesterday united's joint top scorer this season.

apparently rooney is the 2nd best assist player in the league atm with a not particularly impressive 5 to his name. the amzingly super duper ozil has 6.

I wanted Rooney gone as well, but it's very scary to imagine where we'd be without him this season. He looks in shape and athletic, and I really wasn't counting on him to get back to his best. In his current form, he's certainly one of the best in the world.

Well Rooney has had his best seasons we've won £#%&! all, at least we're on track for that.

He's probably been the best player in the league this season along with Ramsey.

But by the time his contract runs out he'll be nearly 30 and we'd have had 11 years service out of him, so if he does go it won't be a disaster.

As much as he means to the team at the moment, I just can't see the gimps letting him wind down his contract and leave for £#%&! all, it doesn't fit the business model.

He'll be sold to highest bidder following the World Cup if there's any doubt of new contract.

Don't forget we're talking about a kid that walked out on the team he actually supported all his life. I doubt if he gives a shit about what anyone at Utd thinks of him. Great to see him playing as he has been, though, and hopefully we keep hold of him.
Nail on head.

Anyone who can't see that the football is just a secondary irritation which gets in between the gimps and a massive pile of cash is the one making stuff up in their head imo

How are you in a position to know what I know unless you work for the NSA or one of the other similar outfits ffs ?

Their get very rich plan doesn't involve letting the value of assets dwindle to £#%&! all in exchange for a year long kick around on the pitch for old times sake.

ordinarily no team would let a player they think is going to leave just wind down their contract and go for free.

it has £#%&! all to do with any particular business model

although seeing as you mentioned it, the united plan atm is clearly to keep the player, which again renders your claim false
