For all the criticism in other areas of the game, he usually does that pretty well. I feel a lot safer when he is there doing that job effectively. This shouldn't matter! It's a nice way of saying that we are second best in terms desire and fight. If we match them in that department then we are better than them and it shouldn't matter how important the game is to them.

It's about more than that though. Tactically speaking SAF has made the same mistake three years in a row, a flat 442 with our wingers nullified and their pressing game allowing them to take advantage of ageing players. Instead of doing that to ageing midfielders they will just now to it to poor midfielders.
They haven't got a lot of quality but the can and will put us under too much pressure. And our defence and central midfield has been very poor last three games.

Carrick slating has started early this weekend. Shall we see if he even plays first. And if he doesn't it'll be because he's shit.
