To aid Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones in paying the construction costs of the new stadium, Arlington voters approved the increase of the city's sales tax by 0.5 percent, the hotel occupancy tax by 2 percent, and car rental tax by 5 percent. The City of Arlington provided over $325 million (including interest) in bonds as funding,[14][15] and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, as per their policy for facilitating financing for the construction of new stadiums.
It's pretty ridiculous tbh, but voters appear happy to go along with it

I posted a video on here of a 360 degree camera shot in the middle of the pitch as it imploded. Will have a search for it, was pretty good.

Correct. Love the higgled-piggledy nature of it.. love the history. Love the fact that it's still called Old Trafford. ( Etihad Stadium HAH !! ). Love the fact that it's a proper Football Ground not a multi-purpose Stadium.

Arsenal are only half the club they were after knocking down Highbury. You're literally demolishing your own history ..It'd be like knocking down Westminster Abbey and rebuilding it 100 metres away. You can insist on the name being the same for appeasement and continuity purposes, but the chattering classes would be up in arms... and rightly so.

Just consider what it is your actually supporting ? What it is that binds you to United !

Old Trafford is literally the only tangible link to the likes of Edwards, Byrne, Taylor, Charlton, Best, Law, Robbo, Eric etc.. and I obviously I could go even further back.

The faces change, the kits change, the badge changes.. history evolves but it's all anchored in by the one constant, our home... Old Trafford.

Knock it down, it's characterless in design.

Should do something like the LA Superdudes stadium, has it's own shopping mall over the stadium and widescreen tvs everywhere so you can watch highlights of other games or infomercials.

When old trafford does become to outdated and insufficient i'm sure our american owners will sign an dilapidated council rec on a free for our players to play on.

Surely if they could have done the South Stand extension they would have done it when they did the two quadrants?

The tracks and the privately owned property means its probably impossible to extend any part of the stadium on that side.

Shame really, as a new tier on the South Stand along with two quadrants would make the stadium look mint, and push capacity close to 100K.

The North Stand and the East/West Stands were designed by different architects. This is why the quadrants look such a mess, as the stands were built at different angles and couldn't be joined easily. Quite a £#%&! up imo.

Pre takeover, AFL were commissioned to look at renovating the South Stand. The idea was to build a new two tier stand that would have seamlessly joined the East/West Stands. Unfortunately, the Glazers took over and put the kibosh on any such scheme
