Schmeichel.

Edwin was probably the best goalkeeper in the world when he was at United, particularly during his last three years.

However, Schmeichel was probably the greatest goalkeeper of all time based on his time at United.

If you disregard the stupidity of his moves to City and Villa, I'd go for Schmeichel.

De Gea has some big gloves to fill either way.

VDS for me.

As undoubtedly brilliant a keeper as Schmeichel was (the best I've ever seen) he was such a gargantuan #@&%! splash you just can't ignore it.

Van der Saar on the other hand, you could probably enjoy a good spliff with. Therefore he's better.

This. Schmeichel created a fear factor when it came to opposition forwards but would make stupid errors, quite regularly.

VDS was calm and reliable, organised his defense more. His kicking was a million times better than Schmeichel's, but his one-on-one keeping left a little to be desired whereas Schmeichels' was top notch.

Arguable that VDS played behind better defenders too.

For their time at United I preferred Schmeichel because he had an aura about him, but looking at it logically, I would say VDS.

Completely different types of keeper. One scared the shit out of opponents and his own team, the other one couldnt get the shit scared out of him he was that calm.

However the blue @#%&! is probably the best keeper ever.
