Darren Bent to Villa for 18mill

Since Gyan arrived Bent's had a fight on for his place should Bruce want to play 4-5-1. He wants a guaranteed starting place or he'll miss out on England.

Bent is 26 and scores for fun. He'll get 20+ league goals every season he plays. £18m for a sure thing can only be viewed as good value in my eyes. With Albrighton and Downing supplying the crosses he'll score for fun.

Sunderland probably been told they can keep Wellbeck for 8M. Sorted.

If bent scores 25 a season fair enough but not convinced he will. Either way, i'd take £18m for him.

Be interesting to see who Brucie brings in now, he may have got the green light to bring in a certain diminutive Welsh scouse . Gyan in for £12m and Bent out for £18m is decent business though tbf, probably means Welbeck well get the rest of the season up top as well, which is good news for us.

I don't understand the reason behind Bent leaving SUnderland for Villa the only reason I can think of is financial.

As for the £18 million, sounds like a lot of money, but when you consider that Bent certainly knows where the goal is & will pretty much guarentee you 15-20 leagues a season then I don't think it is that bad at all considering City just paid £28 million plus for Dzeko. Bent has been one of the leagues top scorers at Charlton & Sunderland & would have been at Spurs given a chance.

IMO, good deal for Villa & Sunderland as they already have Gyan as a replacement & if they invest the cash wisely it could be a good deal all around.

If Bruce is allowed to spend the money, it will probably be a good move for Sunderland.
