Sir Alex Ferguson has called for strong support when United meet Liverpool at Old Trafford tonight (Thursday) in the FA Youth Cup final second leg.
The Reds carry a 2-1 lead into the game after Sam Hewson's penalty sealed victory in the away leg on Monday 16 April. Almost 20,000 fans were at Anfield to witness that match and Sir Alex hopes Old Trafford can top that number. "I just hope now that our support gets behind these young lads at Old Trafford," Sir Alex told Manchester United Radio. "They deserve a big crowd because they've done a fantastic job getting there and it's not been an easy ride for them. They've played some good teams to get where they are. "They didn't play that well in the first game but it was a very difficult game in front of a passionate crowd at Anfield. I hope they can now seal the result." The Reds will again be without regular youth captain Craig Cathcart, who missed the first leg after he was called up to the senior squad. But Cathcart's absence this time is down to a season-ending knee injury sustained in training last week. Fans will be able to pay at the turnstiles to see the second leg against Liverpool - £5 adults and £2 concessions. Kick-off at Old Trafford is at 19:45 BST. |
