There can't be that many centre halves in the world you couldn't buy with £70million, if we're paying that we're £#%&!ed, the new manager next year will be getting quoted a hundred and eleventy million for every @#%&!.

Sell laurel and Hardy to cover the cost. Some crazy bastard would cough up for them.

If Mourinho & Woodward are in agreement that we want the player, then we get him.

If we don't pay it, we don't get him. Spurs need the cash for their stadium & likely to fund other player purchases. Levy won't accept a penny less than their own valuation.

We'll obviously sell someone else, lets say Lindlof to Everton for £35m () then really we are getting him at a net £35m, which is probably where the boardroom maths comes in. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone else get £#%&!ed off & someone promoted into 4th CB sport as well, we're well stocked with numbers in that position, albeit not the quality. Smalling & Jones are surely on thin ice, Bailly I think survives despite his weird in & out squad status. Rojo is signed up & flexible. Lindlof appears to be a bit nothing but if someone wants to cough up for him so be it. Tuanzebe / TFM could come back into the fold as squad options & someone like McTominey has been slated to drop back?

Point is, Alderweireld is a quality player, far better than we have & low risk in regards to settling in, experienced in the league etc.

Bailly
Alderweireld
Jones
Rojo
Tuanzebe / TFM

Smalling has pretty much been Mourinho's first choice centre half, when fit. Not sure why he would get rid of him before others.

Mostly just my own personal preference, no idea who's got Mourinho's favour - seems to change every few months on a whim as well.

If we pay 70 mill for Alderweireld then we're more in need of a director of football than I thought

Have the media decided how much we’re paying Sanchez yet.

You'll find that to be genuinely expensive in the coming months. He's pish.

In fairness look where trying to be clever with Lindelof got us.

United have needed to break the bank for a top centre-half since Rio and Vidic left. When they both went we all wanted Hummels. Four years later and that void still hasn't really been properly addressed. Whether Alderweireld is quite as good as hyped is another matter, but tbh after a few years of trying to unearth a great CB I'm in favour of paying silly money for the best finished article we can get.

Except that we already paid £30m and wages for £#%&! all for Lindelof so we're getting shot of him for a net nothing. And then paying £70m for a replacement.

Which I'd still do though.

The issue is, the spurs player wants out, their manager wants him gone and next season a clause kicks in he can go for £25mil.....so why the £#%&! are we paying over the odds for him.

Pay 50mil or £#%&! him off till next season, cheeky plastic arsenal @#%&!s.
