I'd try and persuade Giggsy to stay on as number 2. Maybe make him responsible for the academy. Either way, why would Giggsy have to leave if/as and when Jose takes over in the summer. They'd make a great team imho.

Legendary player but you've got to at some point separate Giggs the player to Giggs the coach. If Van Gaal goes, that's two regimes he's been a part of that has failed.

Let Mourinho/whoever bring in who they want to have with them. If they are happy for Giggs to stay, fine, but make it known that if he ever wants the top job himself then he has to earn his stripes.
