Cool who were you in the playground ?

I bagsed this guy. Helped that there were far more City fans, but it was really never up for debate.

Top haircut aswell ( for the time ).

More competition when it came to internationals or exotic european games..

I wanted to be Cruyff..

but would take Johnny Rep at a push.

I was Gordon Hill too, left footedness wasn't an issue at that point. a few years later, for some bizarre reason. I was...

Me and my mate weren't allowed to be on the same team because people said we were like Yorke and Cole (football wise)

Depending on what I was doing i would shout out different names as i did it
tough tackle "keane!" ... freekick "beckham" (said fast in clive tyldsley voice) mazy run ending in a shot "giiiiiiggs!"

scarily exactly the same

I was always Cruyff after I got one of them cards out of shredded wheat that moves when you wiggle it - the cruyff turn iirc

other than that it was Hill all the way, although I'd sometimes pass to Coppell and Daly when we were playing in the hockey nets

..ahh the crab. You were Wilkins if you passed sideways.

Gutted when Hill left. As a result I never had any time for Sexton.

Went to see a United Old Boys match V Greater Manchester Police back in the early 90s (?) United were awful, rammed full with some right ageing plodders like Alan Gowling.. but Hill was still superb. I think he was officially in central midfield but he was all over the pitch hoovering up mistakes and making things happen. They were resoundly beaten by a younger faster team, but Big Gordonerers was the best player on the pitch..

£#%&!in' ell ....YES YES and thrice YES !!

Remember that in addition to the cards there was instructions on how to do his moves on the back of the packets. Illustrated with the use of arrows.. I'd sit there and study it whilst having my breakfast !!

EDIT: so already in the Fred XI there's 3 Gordon Hills !!

I remember celebrating a goal like Shearer when it looked like he was signing for us (the 2nd time!).

I still have nightmares about it.
