Default So what should the team have been in the final

This has been rattling round my head for ages. We should have played 4-5-1 and kept Hernandez back for later in the game.

I reckon we should have played

VDS

Fabio - Rio - Vidic - Evra

------ Carrick
---Anderson - Park

Valencia------------Nani/Giggs

-----------Rooney

The team should have been Ac Milan circa 1994 - they'd have done alright.

tbf the huge sense of irritation hasn't gone yet - we got it completely wrong and let ourselves down

the team we put out was completely irrelevant. we couldve started with 13 players and still lost just as emphatically.

Wouldn't have mattered, they're just better than us. Not gonna win it for a while now.
We missed out our chances to be up there with madrid, barca, milan, and liverpool in 2000-2004

THIS.

I don't really know how many more ways you can put 'OUR TEAM IS VASTLY INFERIOR TO THEIRS' before some people get the message.

Still makes me shake my head when i think of some of the comments on here before the game though...

"they're cheats and over-rated"

"just play our normal game and we'll smash 'em"

Don't agree

Another body in midfield and that first goal wouldn't have been such a piece of cake.

Kept it tight and moved on Scholes and Hernandez on for the last 20...

Pretty Much what I said in the build up thread, only with Giggs playing in the Anderson role. Don't think it would made much have a difference, to be honest...but in hindsight we should have played a 4-6-0 and pressed them on the counter...

Start team was ok but should have changed it at ht or soon after.

Hernandez/Evra off

TV to Rb, Fabio to Lb

Fletcher in the middle, Nani on right, Giggs pushed closer to Rooney.

Does that give us 13?

Well, if we're going to do this :shakehead:

Starting line up didn't worry me too much, it was the one everyone (practically) expected and would've picked.

What concerns me greatly is the fact that it was plainly obvious we were in the shit at half time, Cheech and Valencia were suffering and something needed to be changed. The fact Berbatov wasn't on the bench and he didn't give Cheech the hook and at least try something different worries me.

It was 1-1, change it, start again, do £#%&!ing something, you might catch them out.

What he did was akin to a rabbit stood in the path of a fast approaching juggernaut and opting not to at least try to hop off the road At least in Rome he tried something.
