Fact is, as has been said, Barca played on blob, whether we ever had enough to stop them is moot. We could have stopped them, but the very nature of their game, at it's peak, is our worst nightmare.

Thus it transpired that they looked as good as they can, & we were dogshit.

Not because we are dogshit, we're clearly not - being champions of England again - but in comparison to them, we really are a poor side. A collection of individuals shoe-horned into some positions that you'd like to think would suit them. The reality is Barca play as many of their best players in their best positions as possible, & they have played together for years & years, & years....

I can't doff my cap enough to them as a footballing side - they have some indescribably @#%&!ish players, but all the best sides do.

I don't want us to copy them, I just want us to have some better players & play the United way at the top of our form again.

I fear this wont ever be the case under the Glazers. I hope Fergie has had their ear & they saw what the level is, but we got to the final, our money is made, the sponsors will happily come crawling to be a part of the United experience... & we'll have Michael @#%&!ing Owen up front for us next season.

£#%&! sake.
decent post. maybe fergie will have pointed out that the defeat cost them a reported 60 odd million quid btw.

Fergie better think of something because its sods law we'll get them again at some stage of the european cup next season.

I think they're happy to take the reputed £63m we snaffled through the competition & re-sign Michael @#%&!ing Owen as opposed to spending £35m+ wages on the world class central midfielder we need...

Well, if it's before the final it might not be so bad.

Not just because it will hurt less if we lose again - but because, as I said a day or two ago, teams (ourselves included) have slightly more chance against them over two legs, imo

I think it's verifiable fact rather than just opinion. We got them, Inter got them in recent years. Even this season they were a very good Bendtner chance from going out against a team they dominated for 90% of the two legs. They can be their own worst enemies in some ties by going up a goal or two and then easing way off.

doubt it. personally never thought owen wouldn't be offered a new deal by fergie anyway. before the final united needed a new hargreaves, and that could cost £35m or it could cost £5m. after the final united need a new scholes. but united didn't use scholes in the final anyway. go figure.
