Thumbs down "How Jesse Lingard is building a brand to rival Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham"

Quote:
JESSE LINGARD is one of the most popular footballers in the world.

A master of appealing to a young audience, he has cultivated an image of himself as a trendsetter, dividing opinion amongst former pros who aren't at ease with his brand.

His JLingz moniker has earned the Manchester United midfielder a staggering 5.3m followers on Instagram.

And now he has become a fashion designer, revealing his own clothing label selling men's and women's streetwear and contemporary designs that he hopes will appeal to the masses.

Lingard, 26, is even peddling his own scent, as well as mobile phone cases featuring a graphic of his trademark goal celebration.

It's a statement of intent from the Three Lions star, who is clearly ready to rival the likes of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo in the style stakes with his range.

Taking a closer look at the JLingz label, you'll find hoodies starting at a modest £45, quilted jackets costing £70 and T-shirts priced at around £30.

There's the 'Be Yourself' and the JLingz collections, and they include various accessories like trucker hats, beanie hats and socks.

It's an extensive lookbook that may appeal to fashionistas who aren't United or Lingard fans, but not everything footballers endorse strikes gold.

Back in August, former Red Devil Zlatan Ibrahimovic's A-Z clothing line closed down after just two years in business reporting a staggering £18m loss.

The absolute STATE of this article. To think Jesse Lingard has blatantly paid for this article to be published, too.

Grade A @#%&!.

If he can build a brand as a mediocre footballer who resembles one of PT Barnum's famous pinhead troupe - all credit to him I say.

Thumbs down

My most hated footballer of the current era. At least Fellaini conducts himself with a degree of dignity and self-awareness. Not this @#%&!.

Saw a stat the other day that he’s played 150 times for United now. How many good games in that run? Probably about 5. He puts more effort into picking his £#%&!ing dance moves than his football.

He’s basically just using United as a platform to build his own brand. You have to wonder how long-term this plan has been, too. Probably had parents and an agent planning this for years.

A leech, and should be nowhere near a club like United in transition. Get rid, ffs.

Yeah, quite a lot of things I don’t hate, to be fair.

What the £#%&! is your problem anyway, you drugged-up, tin-hat-wearing nutjob? £#%&!ing fascist telling everyone how they should feel.

Think I’d take advice from someone who’s mind is permanently stuck in the state of a sixth form socialist failing to evolve into adulthood. Swallow some more LSD and tell a brick wall how America is the enemy. Odd @#%&!.

Was poor yesterday after a great game against Cardiff - needs to work on that pdq. 26 ffs.
Do you think that this enterprise has any influence on the consistency of his performances? If not why even care about this? People of his generation who grew up with their entire existence on social media are insanely narcissistic. It is nothing new.
