how the £#%&! can that Arsenal team who rightly won the league but lost Charity Shield to Utd, got knocked out of FA/League Cup both at Semis and knocked out of Europe at Quarters be better that a team that won an unprecedented treble beating Juventus/Bayern etc on route

44 in all comps between Boro in December 1998 to Chelsea in October 1999
29 in the league between the same times
But, if you include pre season friendlies, we lost to Arsenal in the CS and Lazio in the Supercup

We lost fewer competitive games in our treble season than they did in their supposedly unbeaten season.

They were a crossbar away from ending that unbeaten run on about 6 games if Ruud hadn't missed

Both fantastic sides that SHOULD have had more European success. Could be argued that one of fergies failings was he never strengthened either side/squad after we'd won the cup?

One signing in the summer of 99 in Bosnich (on a free) iirc and wasn't Berba our only signing summer 08?

Arsenal were beaten in 6 competitive games during their "unbeaten" season.

United lost 5 games in their treble season.

I can't understand how the question can even be asked in any serious way. Would you swap the league, FA Cup & European cup for just a league win?
