Still struggling to feel any excitement over this transfer. However it is probably less of a risk than Morata, who while a more technically sound player than Lukaku might struggle to adapt to the PL. Really shows the lack of outstanding options.

Lukaku will score goals, but his real worth for me will be in how he works with the other attackers, if his style of play meshes and allows them to excel together. Who scores is irrelevant as long as the team is functioning.

Yep. Distinct lack of combinations last season. Pogba and Zlatan. Mata and mkihi. Not much else.

People keep saying 'will he take us to CL winners'. That's a big jump from where we are. No individual would do that. What he can do, if successful, is bring a new dimension, improve/link up with the talent around him and he part of José's (hopefully) master plan.

More needed this summer and more needed from the current players.

Mourinho is pragmatic, the long goal of the club it to be back challenging for the CL, Mou will take that in steps, he will not sacrifice the short term. Lukaku might help us win the league, but if he deems him not good enough to meet his next goal he will quickly dump him and demand the club get the best available. Never been shy about spending or fighting with his club for more money.

We need much more Rashford, Pogba, Miki, Mata, Martial. It is why I am not convinced by Lukaku, his all round game is flawed, if he or Zlat/Ruud, any dominant scorer hits 30 but inhibits the play of others that total is far less valuable than it looks. Mou is too smart to take him out of his comfort zone though, have to wait to see how it works out.
