Exclamation The 50 Greatest PL Games of All Time

MailOnline like to run these silly countdowns during International week and I like to post them for the forum's benefit hth.

Wonder what #1 will be?

United have already featured four times in 50-41.....not one of them a win.

50. Birmingham City 3-0 Aston Villa (2002)
49. United 3-3 Southampton (1999)
48. Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool (2003)
47. Charlton Athletic 4-4 West Ham United (2001)
46. Newcastle United 5-1 Sunderland (2010)
45. Chelsea 5-0 United (1999)
44. Chelsea 3-5 Arsenal (2011)
43. United 2-3 Blackburn Rovers (2011)
42. Arsenal 2-1 Leicester City (2004)

Liverpool 4 - Newcastle 3 should win it. The one with the late Collymore winner.

Should or will? It will be up there as seems to have gotten better as time has gone on, and seems to be the sky default game whenever mentioning this kind of stuff. Watched it when they re-played it not long ago and wasn't that great tbh. Our 4-3 with city at OT was better for starters.

It was of its era and can be marked as the moment the PL really 'came of age'. There's probably been better games before and since but in terms of a generation defining moment in football it's pretty hard to top. Watched it in a packed Jabez Clegg, great night.

93-94 I think, away to Villa, Sharpe scored 2. Not that memorable over the years really but just a proper good game of football, everything at pace, both teams trying to win, great atmosphere, everything football should be but the modern game ain't.

My pick

The game had everything...

Some of the names playing - Henry, Bergkamp, Campbell, Cole, Vieira, Fabregas, Pires, Neville, Ferdinand, Keane, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney...

Met Lee Sharpe at a corporate event last week. He was a guest speaker. Proper bore, too. And talks shit. Claims that when Eric kicked Matthew Simmons at Crystal Palace, Bryan Robson was going mental at full time. I didn't have the heart to shout out that Bryan Robson wasn't playing for us in 1995 and that if he spent less time in the toilet he'd have remembered...

I think the 4-2 Arsenal was a fantastic game... the 5-3 at Spurs needs a mention too.

If you take away the last few minutes, the derby 4-3 wasn't that great. Parts of it were very boring.

Our comeback against Spurs (3-5) was a much better game.

Other notable games:

Dippers 3-3 United (from a non-United pov)
Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal
Arsenal 2-4 United
United 8-2 Arsenal (just for the utterly ridiculous scoreline)
United 2-1 Liverpool 11/2/12 (for the drama if not the football)

The City v QPR match will win it. That or "Collymore closing in..."

I thought the Spurs / Chelsea 2-2 was a great game from last season.

You could imagine the 3-5 at Leicester will get a mention too.

5-2 at home to Spurs. They were good first half, we destroyed them (PROPERLY destroyed them) in that second half.

Unbelievable game of football
