If you look at the plaudits he got and the amoutn of times he won world player of the year its hard to see how he couldn't have been. Zidane had the ability to turn it on in the big games that made him special, I remember games for both Juve and Real where against lesser teams he looked disinterested and didn't do much.

I was slaughtered on here for sugeesting that Zidane was overated years ago.

Think his goal record for a player with his ability was average. He was a big game player though and that made a difference.

Agree, with the rest, Di Stefano's omission is just ludicrous.

maradona and best are regarded as two of the greatest three players ever by most right thinking people best less so because of his absence from world tournaments but gerrard is apparently better
