He's lost pretty much every trophy there is, anyone got a list.

might think that 2008 is far out in front in his annus horribilis stakes, with the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup (all with Chelsea) and the European Championship (Germany) all going begging; however, Ballack has been here before, missing out on the Bundesliga, Champions League, German League Cup (with Bayer Leverkusen) and World Cup in 2002. He's also got three more second-place medals from the Bundesliga (two with Leverkusen in 1999 and 2000, one with Bayern Munich in 2004), and another Premier League silver with Chelsea (2007).

That gives a total of 12 rueful pats on the back for Herr Ballack (though we should probably also mention that he's also been champion on several occasions).

He's lost more than Chelsea have won.

I know that but it just shows Ballack has played at the highest level for longer than a lot others.

To be fair id rather experience a WC final or a CL final and lose than never to experience one at all.

He didn't play in that World Cup final, he was booked in the semi & banned if I remember correctly, scored the winner to put them there though.

Paolo Maldini has lost 3 EC Finals, he's won 5 though. If I'd played in 8 EC Finals, I'd consider myself God irrespective of how many I'd won (unless I lost them all).
