You don't just appoint the legendary ex player. You appoint the legendary ex player because they've got something about them.
Personally thought he was great in the presser's etc when he was in temporary charge. Came across really well. The buzz the moment he came out of the tunnel for that Norwich game was one of those proper hairs on the neck moments. I'd love it if he took over when Louis three years are up tbh.

Responded to Ashtonred's thread before hearing about this (been out tonight). I hope he does take it tbh, he'll look a bit of a @#%&! if he's offered it and says no after what Neville's done. No way should he walk into the United job with no previous. We're not £#%&!ing Preston North End!

I think that's fergie aim, with the tie in with Lim and the co92.

If fergie taught us anything, it's being great in pressers is the secret to becoming a great manager.

Fear of the prospect of him walking into the job next.. The apparent CO92 (and Giggs' other ex-teammates) in the media's agenda to criticise and undermine everything United do, leading back to a potential mole drip feeding them information... The vacant look on his face, always.

Why Giggs is still the man for Manchester United: Once Van Gaal goes, he is set to take charge in the same way Guardiola did at Barcelona

There is no guarantee that any ex united player will become a top manager. Hughes and Bruce are doing OK, but are not really good enough for united. Robbo was championship standard, but couldn't repeat that success in the PL, Ole is doing a fantastic job at Molde, but his experience at Cardiff has probably shown him that it's a big step up to the PL. Keane couldn't hack it and even Fergie's lad doesn't have what it takes to manage a PL team.

Gazza Nev is the unknown quantity at the moment, maybe he'll do a fantastic job at Valencia and maybe he won't. My guess it that he'll be a decent coach, but not a world beater... as for Giggs... nah.

That guy at Athletico may be worth a shout though.

Love Giggs the player but just haven't seen much evidence that he's management material. G Nev seems much more like the personality type. Nothing to do with Van Gaal(!)

No way he takes the job if he wants the United hotseat after Louis.

If he goes, we know they have someone else lined up.

It also seems no one else can be at fault besides van gaal.

There's very little upside for Giggs in taking the Swansea job.

If he takes them in to the top 6 he still won't be in any better position that if he lurks around OT waiting for LvG to do one.

Except that it might show he actually has some managerial ability. Even then, he shouldn't realistically expect the United job before he turns 50.

Thing is ex-United players in management do well but for a limited amount of time. Robbo did great at boro at first then eventually never managed again. Same for Keane and Bruce in the end.

It's about timing and momentum

He'll be a manager though.

It'd be a good role for him imo.

They have a recent tradition of playing good stuff under martinez and rodgers and they're in a decent position. Just in a rut and Monk's was a typical reflection of modern football's reactionary dismissals.
