If his balls are as big as his sex drive suggests, he'll take the job

Both do I think - chip on their shoulder because he used to skive Wales friendlies

LVG surely?

No-one on here knows what level of influence he has on team matters. He has an agenda though, if he goes and Scholes is still criticizing the shit football it will still be to push Giggs into the Utd job. Nothing to do with having high standards and the football being shit. #Agenda

Some on here used to envy Bayern and the way they kept their legends involved in club matters.

Giggs should only take this job imo if he gets assurances on time. At least the summer close season.

Swansea see managers as interchangeable. Look at Monk, club stalwart, gets the job at 35 and they achieve a highest-ever position in the Premier League. Start the new season with draw at Chelsea and win over United. Only takes a bad 10-game spell for him to be fired.

That's the way the modern game is though, unfortunately.
Look at LvG. 4 wins in 13 and people are calling for his head, rightly or wrongly.

No manager is going to assured of time in this day and age. And anyways, £#%&! Monk!

Not just friendlies. To end a 20+ year career with 64 caps is quite striking.

Was looking at wikipedia. Years 94-98 stand out. In those five years he played 11 times for Wales

Yeah but I don't think LvG is remotely close to the sack tbh. He'd need to fall away badly in the league.

Point being that the last thing Giggs needs is to take this step and find himself out before the end of the season. I don't think he needs to pull up any trees at Swansea to be in contention for the job, such is the hype around the idea. But getting sacked would £#%&! him.

Needs to chose the right club.

Swansea's a well run club from top to bottom. I wonder how much influence the manager therefore has as there seems to be a particular blueprint they always follow. Once things go wayward they'll bring in a new fresh face and climb up again. Rinse-repeat.

Don't get the CO 92 hate on here, if this board had existed in 71 it would have been telling Busby and Charlton to £#%&! off out the club.

Years of club managerial experience of worldy managers before landing club of renown

Heynckes took over Moenchengladbach at 34
Cruyff Straight into Ajax job
Hiddinck Straight into PSV
Rijkaard One year being shit in Rotterdam before Barca
Ancellotti One year with Reggiana before Buffon, Crespo and Thuram era Parma
del Bosque 3 years managing Real B
Guardiola One year with Barca B
Van Gaal Assistant at AZ and Ajax before taking Ajax as first job in big chair
Busby Straight into United

You all act like it never happens and it'll never work.

Giggs will only ever get the utd job if lvg extends his contract and only then if we are flying and the transition is seamless. If there is a serious management job to be done they won't risk a novice, no way, no how.

I think it's more about Giggs himself than the idea. Never struck as a leader or inspirational personality. Nor a great speaker. Obviously it's only outside opinion, but I don't ever remember the idea of Giggs even becoming a manager floated before the disaster of Moyes, who had been given a long-term contract and billed as the new Ferguson for longevity. Giggs as United manager snowballed quickly out of Moyes-gate with not an awful lot of thought or reasoning behind it.

You don't just appoint the legendary ex player. You appoint the legendary ex player because they've got something about them.
