Default David Silva stories still doing the rounds

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news...cle160479.html

The rumours won't go away. Is this transfer possible? I doubt it but I do live in hope.

I don't get why he is saying all this now though, when the transfer window is shut?

It'd be a bit weird to go for him in January wouldn't it? Are valencia in europe?

UEFA Cup/Europa League, I think? Isn't there now a rule that if you play in the UEFA Cup/Europa League you can still play in the CL that season?

If we signed him in January it would be a huge boost to get such a good player half way through the season. But we're not going to sign him so let's forget it.

It is odd that he's talking now but there's encouragement there, no?

It is definitely encouraging. It seems he may now want to play in England. He is a realistic target for next summer, I can't see us signing him in January though.

United's first choice is Ribery but given that he has probably signed a pre-contract agreement with Madrid Silva seems a likely target.

We obviously need to think about signing another left sided player at some point so I suppose it fits.

Doubt it... just seems like a regurgitation of an easy story. Sure it says Valencia are still 'cash strapped' despite their old chairman coming back with about 500 million to sort out their debt problem in the summer..

The rule used to be if you played for a club in a UEFA competition you couldn't play for anyone else in any UEFA competition. Real Madrid got an exemption a few years ago just for themselves but other clubs were denied the same. I'm not aware the rule has changed. Maybe it has but I can't see it. Someone will know for certain.

I've never really understood the fuss about Silva. He's clearly a decent player but doesn't really give us anything we don't have. I can't help but think the money () could be invested better elsewhere.
