Exactly, we keep ahold of some absolute tat but get rid of talented players far quicker

Don't buy this Basti is a bad influence malarkey either, he's a top player who's being made to be sacrificial lamb by a new manager looking to stamp his authority

Martin Samuel pretty much says it all here.....

Jose Mourinho, said Wayne Rooney, is very smart in the way he gets messages through to his players.
It wouldn’t need a MENSA graduate to understand the message in the sudden demotion of German captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, though.
Mourinho no doubt heard the talk about Schweinsteiger last season and acted swiftly.
He will know many of Schweinsteiger’s team-mates were unimpressed by his attitude and felt he prioritised getting fit for the European Championships.
He will know Schweinsteiger thought he was big enough to get away with that and come back unscathed under a new manager. And now he knows who is in charge.
In fact, everybody knows. That’s the point.
