Mourinho no doubt heard the talk about Schweinsteiger last season and acted swiftly.
He will know many of Schweinsteiger’s team-mates were unimpressed by his attitude and felt he prioritised getting fit for the European Championships.
He will know Schweinsteiger thought he was big enough to get away with that and come back unscathed under a new manager. And now he knows who is in charge.
In fact, everybody knows. That’s the point.
