Useless @#%&!.

Lots of running around? Great. But we could’ve saved the money and just given that job to Lingard.

Needs to pull his finger out

No idea why he got the left slot over Rashford tonight

Genuinely thought he'd be the missing piece going forward.
Turns out he's just created more problems

he still passing to where arsenal players would be and we're generally a bit behind positionally

I think this is a decent point tbf.

Also great pass for Fellaini that the wig should have put away

Observations so far:

He always (literally) cuts back inside. So predictable and so £#%&!ing easy to defend against.

If we don't have the ball, he has no idea whatsoever how to create any sort of space. He also doesn't have the intelligence to stretch defences and create space for others.

He £#%&!ing loves running into defenders.

Against Liverpool he was ok, he pressed pretty well and had some decent moments on the ball. But in general he's been average at best.

He is not playing significantly different to how he played at Arsenal, always been an incredibly wasteful player. The change is that he is 29 and has been worked to death for club and country for years. Summer off, might be good next year but might also be in decline. Unwillingness to run outside the full back shows his lack of faith in his pace.

I think he could have made the difference tonight if he'd played.

personally I think he is shocked at the lack of movement and attacking impetus from our players.
at arsenal they run off the ball. give and go and keep steaming forward.
we do that maybe twice a game and usually only if the ball is intercepted or misplaced in the centre of the pitch.
so when he gets the ball he tries to inject pace and charge forward but its looks like he is running down a blind alley due to the rest of our team just watching him or marking themselves out of the attack.

losing the ball is what attacking players who take risks do

yeah he still has the muscle memory of playing at arsenal. at arsenal someone could play the ball to him and he could just turn it around the corner knowing the player had continued their run. At United they don't make that run and he ends up looking stupid.

I said this when he was at Arsenal - for a supposedly world class player he is extremely careless with the ball.

He puts in a 110% every week to do what Mkhitaryan did when he couldn't be arsed.
