A great player and one of the greatest goalscoring machines I've ever had the pleasure to watch, but there was something that never sat right with me, in terms of his persona at least which culminated in his unceremonious exit. I also never felt he was rounded enough, in terms of the manner in which he scored his goals, to be considered up there with the best 'strikers' the game has ever seen. Fantastic inside the box, undoubtedly so (one of the best of all time) but how many did score from outside it? One or two, I think, in his whole time with us - correct me if I'm wrong. Obviously it wasn't what made him his name, but hand on heart, given the choice of him and Thierry Henry I'd have probably had the Frenchman in my dream team back then (more than anything because it would have made for more beautiful football). Soz x

I think that's arguably true

He just had an amazing knack of being in the right place at the right time and the whole team knew it. Freggles knew it too.

Ruud up top with Henry behind = drool etc

Would have been quite possibly the greatest goalscoring partnership of all time

I know it's hard to be objective about all things United, but hand on heart, do you honestly rate Van Nistelrooy over Henry? If so, why?

I think at his absolute peak RvN was better, but Henry maintained a higher level for longer.

Seen in a recent interview again he said he wanted to stay at United.

Didnt wanna post it here due to the hot temperature due to the lvg stuff.

Still believe his side of the story, ferie was proper tight back then.

rvn is the best striker i've ever seen in the shirt, so for me whatever henry was doing is irrelevant. we also had giggs and then ronaldo, both of whom i'd take over henry.
