But he'll still have to call Zlatan, Sir. Everyone knows who the real boss on the pitch is this season and it isn't baldy Scouser :

Rooney is a huge weight around the club's neck and until we appoint a manager with the balls to £#%&! him off he will continue to hold us back.

Seems as though Jose isn't that man and this will be his first big mistake.

Seems as though the list of managers that haven't £#%&!ed him off grows though Dave, as does his scoring record and medal haul....

His number of goals goes down by the season (he managed a pathetic 8 in the Premier League last season).

I hoped Mourinho wouldn't stand for reputations and would get rid. I hoped the same with LVG. It's inexplicable. The only logical explanation at this stage is that the contract Moyes gave him contained a stipulation that he was guaranteed a starting place no matter what.

Single figures in the league. You're (trying to) defend Wayne Rooney's incusion in a current Manchester United side and yet i'm the blue?

Seven behind, isn't he? He won't break it this side of Christmas on current form.

Rooney will be captain until the day he's sold. Mourinho is hardly going to take the captaincy away before then and create problems for himself.

Besides which, there's no obvious captains about the place to replace him.

Taking the captaincy off him would have been too aggressive a move, tbf. Surely he'll have to play well to stay in now, though.

Can only hope this is the case. Soul-destroying to know that he'll still be around for at least another season, though.

Mou isn't a £#%&!ing idiot. Rooney is very popular in the dressing room as is Carrick. He'll want all the English lads onside to build a loyal dressing room.

Good call. Big season for Waynetta, captaining the side back to pre-eminence and breaking records
