Talking Shearer

Sky Sports News understands that Newcastle United are set to appoint Alan Shearer in a managerial capacity for the remainder of the season.

Current boss Joe Kinnear is currently recovering from heart surgery and he was due to meet cardiologists next Monday to determine if he is fit to return to the touchline.

However, it has been suggested that he could move to a role upstairs, possibly as director of football, and St James' Park legend Shearer could be set to take over.

The 18th-placed Magpies are battling Premier League relegation and are desperate for a boost to escape the drop zone.

hopefully he will take them down and the likes of their ilk are not seen for years to come.

and if they do go down, be interesting to see how many of the `most loyal fans in the world` since 1994 are actually in attendance.

i can see the barcodes getting it together to impress 'wor alan' and probably do enough to stay up. then they'll sink like a turd next year, end up in a similar position next april, poppins will be bounced out on his arse and ashley will probably get bloody keegan back. newcastle are potentially the only club in the premiership who are more laughable than city.
