Sure he was, but Van Gaal doesn't want to continue the poor treatment. He's doing him a favour. If you love Shinji, set him free, etc

Fergie bought him to play as a 10 then £#%&!ed a wedge on RvP and had nowhere to play Kagawa. He ended up being shunted out to the wings in his first season which is not his strength.

On the rare opportunity Kagawa has played as a 10 he looks to play a forward pass on most occasions.
Wow, play a forward pass. Fair £#%&!s to him. Even when he has played as a 10 he has been bobbins.

Tell me one time, apart from west brom, where he played well in that role....

I think his lack of flexibility has done for him. Van Gaal likes players who can adapt and are comfortable in more than one position. The fact Kagawa is pretty much a number 10 or whatever the modern parlance is and can't play central midfield or wide has cooked his goose. Van Gaal's comments about him not being able to do what was asked of him on tour is telling I think.

Not to say that Freggo and the manager that dare not speak his name had a clue what to do with him of course. He's never going to fulfil the role LVG wants him to do do best for all concerned he ships out

Neither can Mata tbf.

I think the lack of games is key myself. Only 2 competitions, under 50 games.

Never thought he was anything special tbh, but buying a specialist playmaker and then rarely using him in that role was classic Frogson. Just appalling we ended up with this joker in the same summer Hazard was available :shakehead:

We're doing a 'madrid' selling him. We got a new toy.

Arigato Kagawa-san.

SAF signed him to replace Rooney
SAF £#%&!ed off
Rooney stayed
Kagawa was never given a proper chance in the 10 position
Mata arrived
Januzaj impressed
Kagawa becomes our 4th choice (or 3rd in the new system) number 10

Simple as that really, no one can say he is better than our other options and he's hardly an impact player so that's that. Good move for all parties.
