The players would've responded because it's positive and would've suited the bulk of them as they'd come off LvG's management and philosophy which isn't £#%&!ing poles apart.

He would've spent the money better, even if it wouldn't have been perfect. Whether we'd have had the progress they have had I doubt. But playing something resembling attacking football and clear progress in every respect would have been certain.

I say all that as someone who is far from enamoured with Pep or his football in general btw. The difference between him and Mourinho is night and £#%&!ing day though.

World class

We bought potential and that's all he is two years on. He's not a 10, he can't hack it in a two and he doesn't pull up trees on the left of a three. He can pick out a pass and beat a man but as far as working for the team and striking up a partnership with the midfield there has been almost no evidence of that.

It was a hideous 20 mins from him last night. Kicked the ball into touch a couple of times, pretty much did nothing.

No idea. Baffling.

Vine footballer

Against Bologna, Genoa, Verona and the likes he can get away with doing f*** all since Serie A teams playing Juventus is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. As I say he can do f*** all, produce a vine moment and there goes the hype.

He's got real natural talent but isn't the superstar you expect for 100m. The way to look at is a 100m investment. It sounds crazy and it is but if in 10 years he leads us to domination it works out.

But again you're paying for potential and it can go badly wrong.

Zidane was one of the most skillful footballers ever. He made the most outrageous stuff look piss easy and schooled the best.

Pogba for me has more rounded quality but if you break his game down you can find other players who are better at specific facets and there are others who are better midfielders. Their skill-set is just not as versatile.

I think the Gerrard comparison is correct. He doesn't really nail down a position for himself but you play him regardless because of the talent.

But it wasn't long term doubts over his quality and character that Freggle didn't like. It was his unreasonable demands for guaranteed playing time.

I seem to remember everyone was pretty pissed off with Freggle at the time for allowing it to happen. "Drunken has been old soak" etc. Mainly from the same posters that are most offended by Pogba's attitude now, funnily enough.
