Does anyone still not rate Michael Carrick?

You are absolutely priceless.

Carrick is one of the best passers in Europe. The way he gets the ball forward with one pass to get behind the midfield and in front of the back four is brilliant. It immediately turns defence to attack.

I've always rated Carrick but up until about two months ago I hoped (and believed) that there was more to come from him. He's improved as the season has gone on and recently he's stepped it up another level. I think he'll only get better next season, which should see him prove well worth the inflated fee.

14-18m for a player with little pedigree at the top level is an inflated fee. Rarely does such an unproven player command such a price. Like I say, if he keeps doing what he's doing it will prove a good bit of business.
