Football Play two defensive midfielders.

Surely we now have to start playing with two defensive midfielders? Mainoo and Amrabat or Mainoo and anyone is better than a single defensive midfielder. Amrabat was overran in midfield against Galatasaray but it wasn't the first time (it's not just him).

Newcastle away will be another episode of us being under immediate pressure and we can't fold. We play The Scottish Player but he's further forward and Bruno is everywhere. We have to have 2 'sitters', surely? I'd go for

A bag of cement
The back four

Amrabat - Mainoo
-----Bruno-----
Garnacho ---- Antony (He'll go with Rashford)
‐-------Hojlund----

But it's time we had two midfielders sitting and protecting the back four.

Yes or no? And submit your own teams/formations.

Didn't we play 2 holding midfielders when we were 3-1 up against Galatasaray?

An excellent suggestion Magic, with just two minor drawbacks …

He’s already weak in defence, has a decent pass on him when unchallenged. Moment he has any pressure put on him he wilts

I would like to see it.

I don't trust the back four (or Onana) at present.

It's weird how the squad is reverting back to Ole's selection

Galatasaray: (AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw) & instead of Fred & The Scottish Player, you had Amrabat and The Scottish Player.

I think Jems point is that while we often played two players in that position neither were players who played in that position. Fred and The Scottish Player being the two prime examples.

If we are going down the road of players playing in positions they aren’t actually good enough to play we would barely be able to put out a starting XI

Saying that Amrabat and Mainoo as 6s is a good shout. The Scottish Player has been in form but he doesn’t add much to controlling a game.

Maybe against 4 or 5 teams in the division. For the other 14/15? Certainly not. This side has enough problems typically scoring against most teams played as it is. The defensive aspect of this team has no issue against majority of sides (hence DDG & now Onana both leading division in terms of number of clean sheets).

I would'nt say he was hated for it but he did get a bit of stick for using 2 df's particuly in home games but it also has to remembered that Mourinho LVG & Moyes all got some aswell for a variety of different reason's.
