Moreover, the 96 died because they wanted to stand on a terrace; they believed in terrace culture. The price of a ticket for the Leppings Lane end of the stadium on 15 April 1989 was £6; a seat ticket £10 – the differential was not prohibitive. The truth is they died not because terraces are inherently unsafe, but because the Leppings Lane was unsafe.

Taylor report did not conclude that standing was unsafe. It was government decision to obligate all stadia to go all-seater, a crafty way for them to piggyback the gentrification of the game under the guise of improving safety; all cheered on by those champions of the working class writ large, the scousers.

That's just not true - there were several crushes in the years before Hillsborough, including one in 1981 that led to several people being hospitalised. A great big flashing warning sign that was completely ignored

...including some with broken legs. The action of the police in 1981 probably saved the situation escalating as they opened the gates in the fences and allowed fans onto the pitch perimeter.

After that, the stadium safet certificate expired and Sheff Wed took no action on their proven problem of a ground. The FA responded by awarding them more semi-finals and continuing to give the smaller end to the team with the higher attendances

Anyway, I found that quote interesting because it's unusual to see a Hillsborough survivor honestly admitting that standing is not unsafe.

They died obviously foremost because of police incompetence.....but they literally died because they were penned inside cages like animals, there are no cages any more so there is very little to no risk of that happening again - regardless of standing.

There's no place for common sense or facts in this argument
