VDS was winning the Champions League in 95.

I think they're both great keepers and would have adapted to any era really.

I'd have VDS. He wasn't as good at the 'miracle saves' as Schmeichel but organisationaly and with his feet, VDS is better. Because of that, we conceded fewer shots meaning he didn't have to make as many miracle saves.

it's really close isn't it

vds had a better back 4 in front of him and better protection for his full-backs as well. he also had a better central defensive partnership who were both probably better defenders individually then bruce and pallister or johnsen and stam as well. schmeichel was a better shot stopper and better one v one, but also made more mistakes. vds was supreme with his feet and organised the back four far better as you say

Edwin was a far calmer keeper who had great control of his back four. You always felt there was no panic when he was in the sticks IMO. Both brilliant but Edwin shades it for me
