Surely that's down to the board. Like Fergie with the glazers, wenger is their cover. He's obviously been doing what the board want this past 10 years otherwise they wouldn't keep giving him new contracts. Last season is probably the first time he's failed in their eyes.

Again, surely it's the money men at the club who decide wage structure?
There's plenty to blame wenger for, such as his refusal to sign the kind of players Arsenal have been crying out for over the past decade, or his lack of plan B, but not paying top wages or letting contracts run down can't be down to him.
