Default what has been our best performance this season?

not necessarily against the hardest opposition. but what has been a proper united performance?

a game in which we have looked like the 'real united' and put a team to the sword?

Tbh mate I just can't be arsed thinking about football at the moment.

I don't remember to many batterings of teams though tbh. Been a weird season. It's like we've not got going yet we're still in to win everything.

People conveniently forget that in that game, for the first 20 minutes Fulham were better than they were in the first 20 yesterday, but we got away with it in the cup. Shows what a thin line it is.

There hasnt been one in the league really. West Brom away were a joke.

Celtic home could have been 5 or 6 though.

Fulham in cup as mentioned...

Yep. It's as if it was a completely different performance to the cup, it was pretty much identical, only this time we went down to 10 men and they scored. What I'm saying is United wern't 'that' bad tbh. With Rooney up front it was only a matter of time until we scored, then bizarrely he shifted Rooney outwide.

Pompey away was very good, but we hardly put them to the sword as the original post asked. 1-0

Blackburn away was comfortable but we wasted chances to wrap it up there too.

We totally dominated Fulham at home in February.

Took the piss out of Celtic at OT as well. Easy.

Inter away was an excellent performance, showed maturity, ambition and a level of ability of a much higher standard than Inter.

The last 2 games have been a shambles, Fergie should take some flak for his selections, still can not believe the side he picked yesterday, after a week off and an international break coming up.

Quite a few of the more impressive performances have come in the Cups, the league form has been efficient but uninspiring in the whole, moments of real quality, backed up by an excellent defence has been the basis of our challenge, the standard of our attacking play has not been as good as last year, which in turn was not as attractive as 06/07.

The problem with that season was the team collapsed over the line, the small squad and the need to overplay key individuals resulted in fatigue, the loss to Milan, the limp performance in the Fa Cup final against Chelsea were both indicative of that.

The small squad meant more consistency in team selection, partnerships that were established, allowed greater fluency. The constant rotation especially in midfield has made it hard to find that this season. The form of Giggs has been an issue as well, hard to leave out but 2 starts in 4 is about his limit to retain his level.

marlo raises a good point. We've performed OK/average in 95% of our games this season.
