Default Midfield purchase.

Seems to me that we need to buy one midfielder in the summer, to be paired with Carrick for the long-term in central midfield.

There's no point thinking or suggesting Michael Essien (the ideal solution, in anyones book) because it just wont happen. Ideally, Owen Hargreaves will be fit, will stay fit and there won't be a problem (I know, I know) but lets just pretend that that's not going to happen.

Who would you buy? Who should Ferguson bring in? I'd quite fancy Mahamadou Diarra from Madrid but he's long-term injured so I wouldn't want to take another ftness gamble. The other Diarra, who would be surplus to requirements, would be just too shit.So not him either.

It's a toughie.

I seriously think it might not be impossible to get Essien.

He is what we need though, if I could only sign one player this summer it would be him.

Only 21, different to what we currently have, massive, a goal threat, great hair and I've seen him run the scouse midfield ragged on 3 occasions this season, amongst others.

Would bring a presence to the center of the park that we currently lack, and I am not suggesting for one instant that he would be a player that plays every game or wins European Player Of the Year, but he would improve our midfield options, IMO.

He is a very good player, I just don't think he's United standard.

If we do buy, it should be on a proven, top class midfielder.

Hargo will be back hopefully... with him and Carrick in midfield * I think we'll be ok.

* - Carrick is reminded from time to time that we play in Red... his passing has been nothing short of crap this week.

Still scored though.

That Saha's looked lively to of late, wonder if Utd can get him back?

True on both counts.

Although I'm not sure it was at all possible to justify keeping Saha.

He's had it plait down, doesn't look anywhere near as impressive.

Jo is still rocking his, along with a quite fantastically long fod.

Very true, you can't often say that about Carrick either his passing is usually superb, then again scholes hasnt been his usual genius either.

au contraire. anyone who thinks it was ok to sell saha with no replacement needs shooting.

he may have been a bit unreliable on the fitness (or mental) front, but he offered something that no one else in squad offers. and we are a striker short anyway.

carrick looks tired. he'll be better in a couple of weeks without two games a week.

That's like saying Hitler was a bit racist.
