The behind the scenes stuff is interesting and encouraging that the club are taking a considered view. But if it all hangs on these two games it's quite feeble.

Exactly. They're not exactly easy games. What will they prove? That they're difficult if we lose them? That all is OK if we win them?

What if we play like total shit yet again but scab a 1-0 in each of them?

The last six fixtures have told us more than the next two ever will.

The club need to identify what the problem is. If they discover that Van Gaal's main problems are with the senior figures, as is often the case, then there's a decision to be made because in my view Carrick, Rooney and Giggs don't have a future at United either.

They could back him to get his own leaders in. The new man will only do the same.

Agree, but maybe they want to see us generate more chances and actually play some football.

A couple of flukey wins would probably just buy LvG time until the Summer - with the club heavily vetting any incoming transfers in January.

What van Gaal can't afford is more games where we create two chances in the entire match.

So if we played entertaining football but lost, would that be OK for the powers that be?

I think there needs to either be a commitment to LvG's process or not. Making a decision based on two tough fixtures just seems spurious.

Effective more than entertaining. Mind you we've rarely been either under LvG.

I know what you're, it might be bullshit anyway. I reckon they've already made up their minds. You can only put up with so many ineffective performances in a short period of time. It's really only the lack of alternatives that might save him IMO.

If Guardiola or Ancellotti (who was originally preferred over van Gaal) were definitely interested and available in the Summer, they would happily show him the door.

It is. Once any situation reaches that point it is over. Has any manager ever got to the 1/2/3 games to save their job and survived?

Think Rijkaard was perilously close with Barca a year or so after Van Gaal got the boot there, too.

But other than that, Van Gaal. Twice.

Once with Ajax and once with Bayern. European ties and if he lost he was gone. This is pretty much fact. The lad has form

This might be one too many for the Big Man, though.

Not sure what's going on personally but there have been rumours of players being unhappy with his methods. Full story will never come out but the football is negative and risk averse, not what we are used to.

Pep is in at the end of the season Its done.

Van Gaal will resign and Giggs will take over until the end of the season..

His 'New challenge' he wants is to manage the biggest clubs in each league which he told Rumminegge apparently.

We'll see you next year Pep

Well if he manages to pull it off and we start playing like we did tail end of last year- only sustain it this time- I'll be delighted. I don't want him gone because I don't like him, I want him gone because it's just so dire.
