I still have the memory of Jurgen Kohler lying on his arse on the goal line with Cantona a yard out and hitting it against him

Summed up that game, we battered them for 90 mins, must have had 10-15 golden chances and it just would not go in, and of course they score 2 deflected goals over the tie.

I always thought so too. It was right up the middle.

No spring at all, and reacted slowly. Missed opportunity that year, I know we lost to Juventus twice, but in the home game, again we missed a stack of chances and we could hve beaten them. Along with Leverkusen and the first time we went out to Madrid were our chances to win another European cup.

agreed totally mate if we'd won in 1997 it might be us looking at FIVE TIMES this year

all conjecture I know but 1997 season we were the best team in Europe, Dortmund were the worst team to win big ears for a long time until Porto another chance we were robbed of thanks to a bent Russian linesman and a Yankee clown in goal

and don't even get me started on £#%&!in Monaco

But you see, you can't quote Trop or borsuk, because of their habit of typing the first part of the post in the subject line, in a contrived attempt to add gravitas.

It's the equivalent of fiction writers using "he said" to introduce a dramatic pause, i.e.:

"It's not my fish," he said. "It never was, and it never will be."
this post would have been far better with the 'i assume' in the subject line.

oh, and no capitals, of course.

Injuries killed us the year we went out to Monaco, both in the league and Europe.

Against Monaco a few players were carrying injuries and we brought Michael Clegg on because Neville just could not run.

Cantona has said that he didn't retire for footballing reasons, so it's not really an issue.

I certainly think he had a few more seasons in him if he wanted it though.

Curtis played against Arsenal in the previous game, the ridiculous game when we had 5 players who had played right back in the team and Fergie chose Curtis to mark Overmars. We all know how that turned out.

Phil Neville played left wing that day.

Just so you know i do not carry this information in my head.
