Schmikes & VDS will be missed equally in the upcoming seasons.

I was very pissed off when Kanchelskis went to Everton....disappointed when Sharpey left United too.

Cantona of course...

...but really it's all about the here and now isn't it..You don't really miss players as such. You just get on with it & adapt to new players.

I actually miss 4-4-2 with proper wingers more than any actual player.

I was gutted when Strachan left, he was my favourite player when I was about 7. After that, Cantona, Ole, Ronaldo and Djemba x 2. Was disappointed to see Rossi sold too actually.

Thinking about it, a Paul Ince at his very best would be extremely useful to us right about now.

For some reason, even though the writing had been on the wall 2 to 3 months - seeing Ruud look so sad at the Madrid conference when talking about us really struck a chord.

Was gutted the sunday morning the Stam deal went through too.

Ronaldo - epitomises everything a Utd player should be. Constant, greedy hunger for more, more success, more plaudits, entertainment. Always trying to be better, never satisfied with what you have. and above all a natural instinct for entertainment.

he's not like a Nani who does a bit of skill when we're winning to show off or take the piss, Ronaldo did it cos it just came to him as a moment of inspiration or "can I pull this off" thing. Which is similar to how Eric played.

Its all well and good being a 'winner' ala Keane and Neville who want to win at all costs, but football needs to be about expression and flair - just enjoyment of the game.

Something to keep in mind - Rooney sometimes imitates an inspirational player, he'll hit a 50 yard ball or something. but you'll notice he always plays the same card. That stupid Cantona-esque chip he always tries to pull off that never works - thats not inspiration, that a punt posing as flair. Cantona's came to him in a spontaneous moment of brilliance, Rooney's attempts come as a result of him trying to live up to his reputation as a world class inspirational attacking force who can do anything with the ball rather than just expressing his instincts the way he used to i.e. volleys vs newcastle/boro or his debut hat trick.

He's too close to being a Terry now, just plays up to his reputation rather than enjoying his football.

You've got to love luffy.

Great player & I'd have him back like a shot, but I'm not sure he epitomises everything a United player should be
