the problem we have in a continental approach is that poor execution will often kill us because we don't make enough chances to be so wasteful. for all that martial has been our brightest spark for most of the season he has also been our most wasteful player by far.
Proud of the lads. Etc.

We kept the back door shut brilliantly, a part from when they had set pieces obviously, or when their right back got free in our box....

Basically what you're saying is we play boring risk free football and don't create many chances so we need to take the 1-2 ones we get? We were not playing Barcelona, it's scary how much the standards have dropped from a few of our fans. Happy to keep the door shut every week against shit.

By few you mean the majority?

So we should play 442 and go for the jugular? Youd have even more to moan about when we let in 3 or 4. We are no longer Ferguson's United and we were playing the league champions ffs - they might not be Brazil '70 or Barcelona but they have been the best side this season. We more or less have it right at the back, despite injuries and a couple of additions in mf and rw should see us competing.

Venceremos

Post

He retired from club football in 2011 what do you expect.

In his mind he knew was finished I'm sure of it, but then Levy had to make a move, which got Woodward interested and when the offer of 20+ mill for 3 years came in he wasn't saying no, was he?

When a boxer fights a few years beyond retirement he only damages himself. With football managers... whole different thing. The entire club and its supporters are getting battered.

The legacy aspect is the same though, just as anyone should separate Ali's post-Manila fights when looking at his career, the same should be done for LvG post Bayern/Holland. Otherwise his sheer terribleness at Man United might well overshadow what he did at Ajax etc. For anyone born beyond the 80s it probably already has.

At least trying to get men into the box would be a start, there is only one player in the box quite often when we cross it. It's terrible. He doesn't want to lose more than taking a risk to win. I know we can't go gung ho from the first minute but yesterday was a must win and we didn't even try to win it in the last 20 minutes.

tbf that has happened a lot - just didn't think it too bad in that regard yesterday. Thought it was the last ball that was lacking more than anything but hey ho....
