"Louis van Gaal, it is gradually dawning on us all, is not a foolish man".

Stopped reading after that

Great player but Everton would want an appallingly high transfer fee. Can easily get young players with a similar talent level for considerably less in Germany or Spain atm.

Barkley for 50m or J-Drax for 35m or Max Meyer for 20m??? Only an idiot will go for the first option.

They don't play in the same position though

Barkley is the only good AM we have

If you signed him would he get a game ahead of Rooney/Mata

A cracking player who has all the attributes to become a world class player.

But Everton would want £45m for him and that money buys you a ready made world class player.

If he's available for circa £30m, we should go for him.

Isn't he another that falls into the group of players LvG claims we already have too many of though?

Personally, I want the best British players at United even if that means paying a premium. But it’s gone crazy in recent seasons. Using Shaw as a benchmark, you could easily see Everton demanding £50m.

he is not good enough to be a no 10. He is more like gerrard, dynamic, spontaneous, has an excellent shot on him, loves hollywood passes, is indisciplined and like gerrard he will need a team to be built around him to be at his best.

I reckon he could develop into a brilliant box-to-box midfielder, tbh.

He has the size and strength to deal with the physical battles, the touch and technique to play in that area, and has a ridiculous ability to drive forward with the ball from deep. That goal at St. James Park, ffs.

This is the signing Moyes should have made last summer. An utterly unthinkable decision to pick Fellaini over Barkley. :shakehead:

I don't think barkley is among the best british players. There is too much hype around him like it was around rodwell. He is not even as developed as sterling or shaw imo. The latter 2 were much better & consistent in the premier league.

But the hype will ensure he will go for a premium. I can see him wasting his time for another 2 years at everton before he will go to one of the oil clubs for a reduced fee and then struggle.

There's nothing wrong with buying Everton players as long as they're the right ones.

What kind of idiot would go after Felaini and Baines ahead of Barkley and Coleman?
