Came up on my twitter.

To be fair you could probably make a video like that about most strikers, but it does illustrate how awkward he can be.

My favorite put down of Lukaku so far is that he is a flat track bully and never does it against the top sides.

If only we had a prolific flat track bully type of striker last season that could have put all those chances away against the likes of Burnley, Stokes, West Ham...... the list goes on

A centre forward who scores a sack load of goals in the Premeier League year after year is deemed as not worthy of playing for Man United by far to many, not just on here but other United supporters

Lukaku is 24 ffs and his best years are ahead of him, he will score a shit load of goals for most likely Chelsea

Teams don't line up with 10 behind the ball against Everton though. He'll have much less space to play in and that's where his rapist touch will cost him.

For £30m sure. For £80m+ no ta.

Why is the price relevant? He's either good enough or he isn't. We're not exactly short of cash so spending a lot on one player won't mean we have less for other players

Could deffo do with a touch more subtlety and creativity in our forward line, a battering ram, I'm not so sure.

Lukaku has a lot to do to prove he can do it at the top level. There aren't many top strikers out there who are available but I wouldn't gamble on Lukaku. If there's nothing doing I'd rather Utd buy some young hungry players with potential and keep building this side that is going to be brilliant under Mourinho.

Morata would be a better gamble and he has won league titles and Champions Leagues.

You can invoke the Andy Cole defence... coming to United & needing to be more than a goal-scorer doesn't mean you get a player who won't develop.

The question is whether we have a side (& coaching set-up) capable of managing that transition. & whether Lukaku has shown enough in his play, mentality & so on to think he's going to do it.

I'm not convinced by him vs other players that may or may not be available, but that's not to say he's not going to turn into a beast of a striker, rather just a very good goalscorer.

Of course the price is relevant ffs.

We might have a lot of money but it's still finite.

If lukaku has already agreed a deal with a club, and man utd have supposedly bid 52 million for morata, surely there is 0% chance of his arrival as they wouldnt try to sign lukaku and morata.

There's zero chance of Lukaku coming to Utd as Jose isn't going to sign him for 100 million after selling him for 28 mill
No chance

Cole had shown far more ability in linking and interplay at the stage Utd bought him. At Newcastle he was used mostly off the shoulder, Beardsley was great at finding that pass but they still had some really nice moments of combination play. He had better feet than Lukaku, more nimble, very good at first time lays offs, keeping the tempo high. Slightly erratic perhaps, but it was more a matter of using him in a different way than building a new player.

Lukaku is 24, major technical issues are rarely solved at that age, basic technique should be honed in your teens. If he goes to Chelsea it might cause a few problems, a big part of their game is Hazard coming off the wing, looking to link with Costa, a few weeks of Lukaku killing that might send Hazard into one of his seasonal pouts

I don't see much of a difference between lookookoo and Benteke when everyone was raving about him. If chelski think they are getting another Drogba, they are kidding themselves and for £100m

Sort yourself out.
Most people saw Poborsky as the "star" signing that summer, not totally unreasonably.

Looking back you'd think we signed him off the back of a goal...

He's really not the type of player we need.

People see a big and powerful striker and relate him to Drogba but he's the anti-Drogba.

Drogba was incredible at holding the ball up and could lead the line entirely on his own. He'd either keep the ball until the likes of Lampard and Ballack could join, he'd draw a foul high up the pitch or he'd give you a moment of brilliance and score a goal out of nothing.

Lukaku offers none of that. He can drive at defenders but we play against teams with ten men behind the ball for most of the match So he might get past the first one or two but he'll be stopped well before getting near the goal. He isn't going to get the space and time he requires and he would struggle. With his back to goal he's extremely poor (and that isn't overstating it). He also seems to have attitude issues, he can't be arsed to pressure defenders half the time.

Avoid.

I'd be very surprised if anyone gives a toss if lukaku goes back to chelsea instead of joining united. he'll score goals. he'd score goals for us. but... no, thanks.

Not only is his first touch not good enough but he's lazy. Everton at home this season Jagielka and Williams were going ape shit at him for not chasing the hoofs they were launching towards him. Particularly 2nd half. They werent hopelessly far away from him either. Lets face it when we have played top 6 sides away we've used this tactic of defending deep whilst trying to "hit Les" and start a counter. No first touch and no desire to chase everything makes the gameplan pointless.
