I think you are being harsh. We laid siege to their goal in the second half especially and created some absolute gilt-edge openings. What more can they do ? Put it in the net of course but the team did enough to win the match. The team that was out there put in enough effort to win the match. The team created enough chances to win the match.

Claims of treating it like a pre-season kickabout are wide of the mark.

We should have scored 5 from the chances the team made. No point criticising team effort simply because we didnt scramble one or two of the many chances into the net and a few final balls were minutely misplaced and a few shots were scuffed and smothered.

those comments werent specific to the leeds game, they were a general comment about our season so far.....how many times have we had a game with one shit half and one decent half ?

Even if we were loaded with cash noone could have fended off the injury crisis in defence. Last season we were rightly applauding the whole bunch of them for the defensive record and clean sheets despite having to chop and change the back four between about 8 players.

If we had some of our ball playing defenders playing ( Rio or Evra say ) and able to look after the ball and carry it out of defence without panicing and hoofing it then all our other players can play further up the pitch and Rooney doenst feel the need to come back and take it off the foot of our own left back which destroys any shape and cohesion.

We couldnt play the ball out of defence againt Burnley and we couldnt play the ball out of defence against Leeds.
