The effect of this on the transfer market is going to be very interesting.

Surely there will be loads of bargains in the summer as a load of clubs need to survive.

Teams like us and City could sweep up.

Quite possibly, but a financial necessity here and of course it supports the system that provides so many Belgian players to the European leagues.

Solskjaer done an interview with Sky suggesting so. Could have chosen his words better or said nothing, was banging on about Utd's wealth and how they can "exploit" the coronavirus situation to take players from smaller clubs.

Transfers and wages need looking at all over Europe, maybe tied to the earnings of the clubs...

... oh wait ....

Just given Liverpool a way to divert attention away from themselves....

Huge revenue earner btw...

Imagine the PL top eight clubs in a mini league at the end of the season. Each club starts with half of its current points (rounded up). They play each other home and away, 3 points for a win etc... winner of mini league becomes Champion. All games on TV ... Kerching !
Isn't there a chance Liverpool could win that without kicking a ball?

Someone else can do the math(s).

EDIT: Ha, no, it works against them as they have an even number of points and City odd so city get a point closer. It's still a shit idea. If the season is voided it didn't happen, so the next one starts where the last one (2019) left off.

Football is going to get back to normality at one point, and it's very important we're ready when that happens.

'We want to be the best at everything, and of course now is a chance to spend more time, you discuss players, discuss plans, we've evaluated what we need, of course with the coaching staff we've looked at games, evaluated games, discussing on video calls like this.

'Then, the market, who knows how the market is going to react to this? Who knows which clubs need to sell players?

'There might be just a situation there where you can exploit, and I know that we at Man United, we are one of the biggest, and financially well off.

'I'm sure we are capable, when we get back to normality, that we can do the business that we want to.'
Just raised the price of Grealish and Sancho by £50m each.

Liverpool would start the mini league with 41 points, City with 29, Utd with 23. Eight teams in the league, home and away equals fourteen matches and forty two points on offer.... so no, they could even lose the title.

The Belgian leagues don't have a lot of money and before this playoff idea we had a league that was always a two of three horse race. Now with this mini league it's still all up for grabs and the smaller teams have a chance of the title and a European Cup place, which means they become more attractive for sponsors, advertisers etc and it evens out the financial rewards. Each match is televised and it's almost like cup final for each match. Here it works well, not sure that it would be a good idea in bigger leagues.

The most plausible concept of those raised to complete the season is still utterly farcical and grossly unfair, that of neutral ground and behind closed doors. The advantage the home teams enjoyed pre lockdown makes this an uneven contest as they play away but not away. So even completing the season in such a way will taint any title won through unfair advantage. No option but to void it.

We are skint pol. Only spend what we get in via sales. Can’t see us getting £100m for Pogba and in this market we wouldn’t have got half of what we got for Lukaku

Thumbs down

It really is quite sickening how they're persisting with this farce whilst thousands of people are literally dying from a global pandemic. Nobody gives a flying £#%&! about football anymore, even most Scousers.

Surely the money they're pumping into this 'new technology' to sell tickets would be better spent on buying tests for NHS workers, or diverting it towards vaccine research?

Suits that have ruined football displaying their rotten cores of greed once again.

Just buying them some adequate £#%&!ing PPE would be a £#%&!ing start.

David Moyes is taking a voluntary 30% pay cut at West Ham to help the club through the financial problems caused by the coronavirus crisis.

Moyes is the third Premier League manager known to have agreed a wage reduction, after Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe and Brighton’s Graham Potter.

Spot on.

The lack of self awareness by the Premier League is staggering.

Sky will stick Burnley vs Brighton as the first game back and it'll get record viewing figures.

Just realised. Not only wouldn't Liverpool be champions, Leeds wouldn't win the Championship.

championship planning on finishing the season. It's just pointless. The prem can't have relegation as villa are in the relegation places but have a game in hand.
