fergie probably doesn't care about finishing 1st or 2nd position. If you look closely that may be right also. Even by finishing first you could end up getting one of juventus, inter, real madrid, ac milan or even barcelona if things don't go according to plan in the last round of matches.

It's pretty hard to pick a team from that! We've only named 2 defenders!

Foster

Fletcher
Gill
James (I know he's a midfielder but he's filled in at the back before)
Evra

Obertan
Stewart
Anderson
Nani

Owen
Berbatov

Not a single first 11 player should be starting

Fletcher, Berbatov, Valencia, Carrick and Evra should all be rested

We should be looking to win the group. I remember when Milan knocked us out in the first knock out stage a few years ago, iirc Fergie basically threw top spot away in the group and claimed it didn't matter whether you finish first or second, we went on to draw Milan where as if we had won the group we'd have drew Lyon I think.

Looking at the experience in that squad I can only see us finishing 2nd now.

Which on current standings would get us

bordeaux, real madrid, fiorentina, barca, sevilla.

as oppposed to

juve, milan, porto, lyon, inter, unirea, olympiacos.

Personally i'd like to avoid Barca and there are a couple of 'easy' games if we finished 1st (unirea, olympiacos), but then it's just the luck of the draw anyway.

The possible teams we could get if we finished 1st is much better. Juve, Milan and Inter we should beat tbh.

Porto and Lyon aren't really tough games and the other 2 are piss easy.

Erm, he's not in the squad tbf.

Quite exciting to see what we can scramble really - also whether that Dzeko is much cop against our mickey mouse defence on his own patch, saw Phelan mentioned we're interested I think?

Is the game tomorrow? I've been convinced it was Wednesday.

Thank £#%&! for that, it's my daughters Birthday Wednesday, I doubt I would've have had time to watch it.

I'm pretty sure it's tomorrow. I've been buzzing 'cos I'm on lates this week and my day off is tomorrow so I have been thinking I get to watch the game.

Someone please tell me I'm right and the game is tomorrow.

Yeah, it's tomorrow. Wasn't the Besiktas game on a Tuesday? I had it in my head it was alternate, Tuesday one game, next, Wednesday.

Suits me better if it's tomorrow.
