More like his first 4 games were blinding. Then when the new signing sheen came off and people started to expect more from him than the bare minimum they were able to see what he actually was. Not sure he came out of his own half in those first 4 games by the way, but we are so willing and hopeful over new signings/kids it takes very little to impress.

Honeymoon phase is short.

Signed before Moyes was appointed. On the strength of a trial while Freggle was still here.

True though. Shaw aside but then...

That long ago? I remembered he was the first signing for one of them. Weird to think that in 30 years we've only had 4 decent fullbacks...

Thumbs up

Like with Fred I've never seen him play but I like signings like that

Fred and this lad seem like a departure from the last 2 summer transfer windows when with the exception of Lindelof we signed obvious players
These feel like two carefully scouted signings

Only downside is that Valencia will still start next season as first choice but hopefully this lad takes to the Premier League like a duck to water and makes that right back position his own

He's been fairly solid throughout most of Jose's time here but I'm sick of his %@#$&!s end product

That being said we need Jose to modernise his way of using full backs otherwise we will continue to have issues

He didn't play as a defender at Wigan, they obviously had players better than him in that position.
